The Global Engagement Office (GEO) is responsible for forming and implementing a coherent strategy to promote the University’s international development and global profile.

The undergraduate admission of SUSTech adopts comprehensive evaluation enrollment mode based on national college entrance examination.The graduate admission of SUSTech currently adopts joint training mode.

The SUSTech Education Foundation consists of board of directors, board of supervisors and secretariat. The board of directors is the top of the power structure of the foundation; the board of supervisors is responsible to check finance and accounting information in accordance with law and regulations; secretariat is the standing administrative unit of the foundation, which is responsible to the daily work of the foundation under the leading of leaders in the board of directors.

University Governance

SUSTech has established a modern governance system with Chinese characteristics. The university is led by the President under the auspices of the University Council, with full faculty participation in the governance of academic affairs. In May 2011, the Shenzhen Municipal Government issued the Temporary SUSTech Ordinance, which guarantees the university’s right to manage its own affairs through the rule of law and ensures full academic freedom. In May 2015, the Charter of SUSTech was issued.

The university's senior management is composed of the Board of Trustees, the University Council, the Senior Leadership Meeting and Academic Board, the Advisory Committee and the Faculty Committee.



Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is a decision-making institution of SUSTech, whose members are composed of representatives of the Municipal Government of Shenzhen and SUSTech Senior Leadership Team, faculty/staff representatives and social leaders, all of which are appointed by the Municipal Government of Shenzhen. SUSTech's Board of Trustees is the overall fiduciaries for the University. As such it is responsible for, among other things, creating policies, setting out missions and purpose, strategic planning, reviewing programs, and overseeing campus-community relationships, as well as various other major matters.


University Council

The University Council is the governing body which controls and manages the operations, affairs, concerns and property of the University, in accordance with the Governance Statement. The University Council and the senior leadership team work together to ensure that the University achieves its goals. 


Senior Leadership Meeting

Senior leadership convene weekly at the Senior Leadership Meeting (SLM) to review the development and implementation of initiatives and activities where their recommendations are presented and are formed to facilitate in-depth discussion of specific topics. 


Academic Board

The Academic Board has the main responsibility for the supervision and development of all academic activities of the University, including the maintenance of high standards in teaching and research. The Academic Board determines all matters related to courses and subjects, admission and enrollment of students. It is also responsible for formulating and reviewing policies, rules, guidelines and procedures in relation to academic matters, as well as playing an active role in assuring the quality of teaching, scholarship and research in the University.


Advisory Committee


The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to advise on the university’s strategic objectives and their attainment and to build SUSTech's links with the community and the world. The first committee includes five internationally-renowed academic scholars, four of whom are members of the US National Academy of Engineering: Professor Henry Yang of the UC at Santa Barbara; Professor Chih-Ming Ho of UCLA; Professor Chen Gang of MIT;and Professor Yu-Chong Tai of Caltech.



The Faculty Committee is an autonomous organization for professors to develop academic communications and participate in the management of the university. The committee members are the professors, and associate and assistant professors of the university.
